They reacted to a reunion they wouldn’t have previously expected until Rob Donovan’s return to Weatherfield
Coronation Street fans have said they ‘will never recover’ as they reacted to a reunion they wouldn’t have previously expected until Rob Donovan’s return to Weatherfield.
As those who watch the ITV soap know, the murderer, played by Marc Baylis, has been on the run since last month following an operation as he became a kidney donor for his sister, Carla Connor.
The Underworld factory boss, played by Alison King, made it clear she was not wanting her family to consider being donors when she was told she needed another kidney transplant after contracting sepsis.
But Rob was approached by his son, Bobby Crawford, who encouraged him to help his older sister as she was really sick. While he originally pushed back over Bobby’s request, Rob made out he was a changed man and agreed to be tested, before he was revealed to be a match.
It soon became clear to Corrie fans that Rob’s intentions weren’t genuine and that he was using the trip into the hospital to escape prison, where he is behind bars for the murder of Tina McIntyre.
Fast forward to after the operation and Carla was woken from her recovery by prison officer Mandy, who believed she was in a loving relationship with Rob, when really it was all for his own gain as he plotted to escape prison, as his escape began.
The drama eventually saw Rob use Carla’s girlfriend DS Lisa Swain to get to the abandoned office block where Mandy was waiting with a poorly Carla, before attacking her as she secretly tried to call her colleague DC Kit Green.
In the end, with Mandy gone, Carla found the energy to push her brother down the stairs, and a weakened Rob fell over the balcony. Lisa then emerged, despite her battering, and declared Rob dead.
However, as she rushed Carla back to the hospital with the help of Kit, Rob did a runner as he wasn’t dead after all.
His presence has since been felt in Weatherfield but he was finally seen during Tuesday night’s (March 18) Corrie as he came face-to-face with his former fiancée Tracy Barlow after eight years, as he needed her help.
And it’s fair to say Corrie fans were loving the reunion for the former couple. @welovekatefordx said: “tracy and rob. in number one. talking about the past. i wont ever ever recover.” @carlasmissus commented: “i still can’t believe there’s tracy and rob scenes in 2025.”
@TVMusings22 shared: “These Tracy and Rob scenes are great! I love a bit of nostalgia #corrie.” @kellycc_x commented: “carla, tracy and rob content in the big year of 2025 is so iconic someone call pb i kinda hate that he’s missing out on this lil chaotic reunion.” @corriedalexo added: “rob and tracy we r soooo back i have been waiting for this for YEARS #corrie.”
