The police have registered a case against 12 people in the Solapur district of Maharashtra for allegedly attacking stand-up comedian Pranit More for joking about actor Veer Pahariya in his show.

Veer Pahariya, who is former Maharashtra chief minister Sushilkumar Shinde’s grandson, recently starred in an action drama Sky Force.

After the performance of More on Sunday, the comedian was allegedly assaulted by nearly 10 to 12 people who were upset about his jokes about the actor, as per the police complaint.

After the incident, More took to social media to share his ordeal.

“...They brutally attacked him, punching and kicking him repeatedly, leaving him injured, said the comedian on Instagram.

Sharing a detailed account of the incident, Pranit wrote,The leader of this attack was Tanveer Shaikh, and his gang made it clear why they were doing this they wanted to silence Pranit for making jokes about Bollywood debutant Veer Pahariya. One of them even threatened,Agli Baar Veer Pahariya baba pe joke maarke dikha!”- a clear warning that worse consequences would follow if he dared to joke about him again.”

After the comedian posted about the matter, he was summoned by the Solapur police to record his statement.

However, the comedian did not show up after which a case was registered by the police on the basis of a complaint filed by the owner of the restaurant where the comedian had performed.

Veer Pahariya Reacts To The Incident

Reacting to the case of More’s assault, actor Veer Pahariya wrote on Instagram,I am truly shocked and saddened by what happened to Comedian Pranit More. I want to make it absolutely clear—I had no involvement in this, and I strongly condemn any form of violence. As someone who has always taken trolling in stride, laughed along with it, and shown love even to my critics, I would never encourage or support harm towards anyone, let alone someone from the same creative fraternity.”
