When Shah Rukh Khan said ‘I think I’m gay’ over no link-up rumours with Bollywood actresses

Bollywood superstar Shah Rukh Khan has an illustrious career spanning decades, sharing the screen with numerous leading ladies. Yet, his personal life has remained remarkably scandal-free, with no romantic links to any co-star. When asked about this in an interview years ago, Shah Rukh’s response left everyone stunned. When questioned about his lack of rumoured romances, he humorously replied, “Perhaps everyone assumes I’m gay.”

In a past interview, Shah Rukh’s candid response to this inquiry raised eyebrows. He shared his thoughts on why his name has never been linked to any actress, saying, “I think I’m gay. Everyone asks me why my name isn’t linked to any Hindi film heroine. I don’t know. They’re all friends. That’s the answer I always give. I work with these people, I’m very happy with my wife, and I just work with these girls. They’re wonderful people…I’m very attached to all of them…I love them all and spend a lot of time with them, whether during filming or otherwise. They come to my house, I go to theirs. We receive each other’s calls and talk. We help each other professionally and personally because we understand each other.”

However, Shah Rukh’s rumoured extra-marital affair with Priyanka Chopra in 2011 generated widespread media attention. Their reported closeness supposedly developed during the filming of Don. The frequent sightings of the two together at nightclubs, parties, and various events further fueled speculation and rumours. 

Shah Rukh, who is married to Gauri Khan, categorically denied the rumours of a romantic link-up with Priyanka, clarifying that their relationship was simply a strong friendship. Remaining committed to his wife, Shah Rukh publicly dismissed the allegations, putting the gossip to rest.

In terms of work, Shah Rukh will next be seen in Siddharth Anand’s King alongside his daughter Suhana Khan and actor Abhishek Bachchan.
